I mastered you
But you can't tell it yet
I know your secrets
Even the ones you haven't dispelled.
I see the pain behind the shrewd antics.
And though your scent be sweet
I can tell you've become rancid.
Your lies tell a greater truth
To who you are but they don't listen.
The worry in your face
Is masked by rouged cheeks
And painted lids so they can't see.
But I spotted your essence
Before you even knew me...
